CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band - Concert at Badajoz

occasion of the IX
Concert Series "Jazz at the Museum", which organizes the DiputaciĆ³n de Badajoz in the Museum of Fine Arts pacense capital, we visited the great musician Joseph Zydeco Clifton Chenier , better known as CJ Chenier, son of father of this genre ("the Chenier Zydeco and then are brothers?). We approached the museum and see a corner next to delight us with their music minutes later, a blond, very red, long hair, a lanky, with a cap that seemed out of New Orleans and a fat guy that could well be on a country road with his Harley-Davidson ... Yes, it seemed that those were the musicians of the Red Hot Louisiana Band . We stand in the area designated for the concert: a typical Extremadura courtyard with orange trees and palm trees, whitewashed walls, a lot of heat. Suddenly a black guy, husky (strong, not bone width), with prominent red cap and an accordion sits in one of the stools. "Will is such and the CJ?" people asked. There was no reason to doubt it, so a server started to applaud. The rest of the audience joined, and the then alleged CJ Chenier began to greet the audience. I must admit I was relieved, he was right to start the applause at the right time ...

This man, the most picturesque of all, he played a vest frotte

sits and settles, and after throwing a timid "Hello , however, in perfect Castilian, began the concert. Start the battery, the dishes echo across the courtyard, a few seconds of silence and resumes music bassist. The colleague is marked lively pace. Again, a roll of drums, and Chenier begins to take off the notes of the accordion. The rhythm fills us all and we want to stand up, but only 5 people got up to get carried away by the music that Southerners were tearing during the hour and a quarter-long concert. Chenier tried be close, but with his lack of English and the public's total ignorance of English, communication was almost nil. In Louisiana said repeatedly that the public came out to dance, but nobody noticed. Still liked the concert, and how. The guitarist, best by far, seemed to merge with endless guitar solos and jaw-dropping riffs that left more than one initiated in the matter. And what's also bearish, or of the Chenier ... purely musical point was undoubtedly the best concert . Each seemed a farewell ovation. When the concert ended, the audience cheered by CJ while calling for an encore. After a fun haggling with the artist, we reached an agreement that would play 2 more songs. Of the bounce, a nice slow version of Stand by me of BB King, was probably the most enjoyable an audience whose average age was perhaps too high to fully enjoy a concert of this type ... was missing more brazen by a mass audience attending what they believed would be a jazz concert rather than a cowboy party crazy and entertaining, not to doubt.
